History of Sacre Coeur
The school was first created on the 18th of October 1843. The abbot Charles de Larnay, head of the church in Poitiers, bought a house for 3 nuns. It became a free school for the local poor children. The mayor accepted and M. de Larney promised him that the Nuns wouldn't be any trouble.
The evolution between 1857 and 1901
In 1867 M. de Larnay bought another piece of land for a nursary school. The school continued to grow, however in 1885, more people were leaving for public schools. In 1892 the school was closed, and in 1904 the college closed. However it quickly reopened with 25 students but few resources. It was in 1905 that the building at 5 rue de la fontaine was built thanks to Me Piard, the notaire at Poitiers.

Today, not only are our starting principles to discover and recognise the right of others. We have hope for the future of everyone and appreciate individuals. We remain true to ourselves. This etablishment cultivates, in our students, a spirit of independence, to enable them to integrate later in life on a human and professional level.
Further, each student benefits from a curriculem that involves education at a rythm aimed at their ability to acquire knowledge and adapted to their personnality. Sometimes with a pause for work experience to better absorb knowledge.
We also value the aptitude of our students see their abilities and offer them a large choice of extra curricular activities. Our sporting activities include tennis, hand and football, arts, including sculpture, orchestra and mini films.
We offer our students a knowledge of the outside world and seek to encourage their humanity, we work closely with the Red Cross and the food bank. We encourage our students to be aware of developments in emerging countries and have a twin college in Senegal.
In order to maintain our christian ethos we organise meetings with the people of all religous views, believers and non believers. This we believe encourages tolerance, acceptance prevents indifference and even hate for others different to ourselves. A way to God.
In keeping with our principal of a fully rounded education and to ensure we have missed nothing. The break for outside work is encouraged by outside bodies and powers.
We offer breaks for work experience in the professional domain for a fully formed education this option has many advantages.
The students enter a contract with a life that is active and discovers the world of work, this will make them better to choose their professional career late on life.
Business leaders work closely with the teachers charged with this project and get to know our students, we work together to supervise their training.
